GET RELIEF FROM PELVIC & BACK PAIN IN KILLEEN, TX

Therapeutically-oriented yoga can help

Group classes and instructors vary in approaches, styles and expectations. If you feel that it is time to have a personalized yoga-based approach to your back and pelvic pain, you have come to the right place. I am a therapeutically-oriented yoga teacher certified by yoga therapist Robin Rothenberg to teach her Essential Low Back Pain Program, and I have also trained with pelvic floor yoga therapist and educator Leslie Howard to help people suffering from pelvic floor disorders.

(UNDER DEVELOPMENT)

WHO I CAN HELP

I adapt practices for people with:

  • Chronic non-specific back pain
  • Hypo-mobility, arthritis and stenosis and muscular weakness
  •  Sacroiliac destabilization and hyper-mobility
  •  Pelvic misalignment
  • Lumbar-disc conditions
  • Mild-Moderate Sciatica
  • Scoliosis
  • tightness and pain in the perineum, rectal area and tailbone areas
  • incontinence
  • prolapse of uterus/bladder

Key to achieving results is the willingness to devote time to a home practice (i.e. practicing on your own).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

There are some conditions wherein the ELBP program or some yoga posture practices may not be beneficial. These include, but are not limited to:

  • symptomatic and serious vertebral disc issues with radiating pain
  • cancer of the spine
  • severe sciatica
  • facet joint syndrome
  • spondylolisthesis
  • recent back surgery

WHAT YOU GAIN

Through private consultations and specialty small group ELBP class series (7-classes, 90 minutes/class), I can :

  • teach and guide you through strengthening exercises that develop the deep and Inner Core stability tissues of the body
  • help you adapt your activities, movements and attitude to help you relieve and understand your back pain
  • provide you long term support especially after physical therapy rehabilitation.

Certified yoga therapist Robin Rothenberg of Essential Yoga Therapy developed the ELBP, which is based on the methodology used in the groundbreaking National Institutes of Health studies published in the Annals of Internal Medicine and Archives of Internal Medicine. The studies showed that a yoga practice based on the principles of Viniyoga can help provide moderate benefits for select individuals with moderately impairing back pain.

DETAILS ABOUT THE ESSENTIAL LOW BACK PROGRAM

The first study was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine in December, 2005. The 12 week program examined how participants who suffered with non-specific lower back pain responded to yoga therapy when compared with two control groups: a conventional exercise program ...
